Stretton Focus Limited is a company limited by guarantee and registered in England and Wales.

Throughout this policy the company will be referred to as “the Company”, “we” or “us”

The Company has no paid staff and is run entirely by volunteers without whose efforts we could not function. The majority of the work undertaken by the volunteers is carried out in their own homes and, where technology is involved, using their own private computers save for the Finance Director who has a dedicated computer provided by the Company for his sole use on Company business.


We understand and respect your privacy rights and we will do all we can to protect the data we hold in respect of our customers, advertisers, fellow volunteers and anyone submitting material for publication in the magazine including representatives of organisations which are listed in our directories.

How we use your data

All the data held by the Company has been voluntarily supplied and relates directly to the legitimate business of the Company. We do not use any of the data we hold for marketing purposes other than to invite those with a current contract with the Company to renew or amend that contract when appropriate. We do not supply personal data to any other company or organisation other than the data appearing in our publications or on our website as part of our business and which has been supplied to us for that specific purpose and with the full consent of the person to which it relates. We will never sell or rent our customer data to other organisations for marketing purposes.

What personal data do we collect?

We only collect and store the personal data that relates directly to the business of the Company and this includes:

  • data that we are legally bound to acquire and hold to maintain the Company’s statutory registers including the names and addresses and email addresses of the Directors of the Company and the Members of the Company.

  • the names, addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses of the designated contact person for all organisations, clubs and societies listed in the relevant directory appearing both in the Stretton Focus Magazine (“the Magazine”) and on the Company’s website (“the Website”).

  • the personal data submitted in relation to any advertisement appearing in the Magazine or on the Website (although it is the Company’s view that any such data when provided to the Company in the course of a commercial transaction on behalf of an advertiser this ceases to be private personal data).

  • data relating to volunteers providing their services to the Company

  • data relating to subscribers to the Magazine and/or the Website which includes personal financial data relating to those individuals

How we protect your data.

  • personal data is only held by those who have the need to access it.

  • computers are in the safe keeping of responsible officers and are virus protected.

  • the person responsible for each database keeps it up to date.

  • any personal data appearing on the Website has been provided by the people to whom it pertains with the express intention of it appearing in the public domain.

  • the Company is aware of its responsibilities in respect of the personal data held on its behalf and will use its best endeavours to promote policies and practices to meet these responsibilities and safeguard the data entrusted to its care.


Legal basis for processing data.

The Company only processes personal data in order to carry out its legitimate business interests and meeting its contractual obligations to those with whom it provides a service or who have a continuing relationship with the Company.

No personal data is shared or otherwise provided to third parties save to financial bodies where it is an essential part of processing payments to and from the Company. The Company takes care to chose industry standard, reputable companies to process such payments and receipts.
