Weaving with English Rush – Church Stretton Arts Festival

Led by Phi Evans

With a horticultural background and a love of the landscape’s natural fibres, weaving was an obvious career move for Phi. Primarily it was with willow, but more recently she has concentrated on the heritage craft of weaving with English rush harvested from the Somerset Levels. Being a pliable material to work with, it’s much kinder on the hands than willow and offers stunning natural tones of greens and browns. You will have the opportunity of making a bowl or basket of your choice, using a former or mould to work around thus ensuring form and shape to the finished object. Phi will provide full instruction and guide everyone through the creative process. No prior experience is necessary

This sociable workshop will help you to take this art form to the next level

Cost: £70.00, including materials and refreshments
